The Indian women's cricket team is set to appoint a new head coach, with Amol Muzumdar and Tushar Arothe among the shortlisted candidates to be interviewed on June 30. Arothe has previously coached the Indian team, while Muzumdar has experience with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and the South African national team. Jon Lewis, an Englishman and former head coach of Durham, has also applied for the position.

The Cricket Advisory Committee, consisting of Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe, and Sulakshana Naik, will conduct the interviews in Mumbai. The Indian women's team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, has been without a head coach since Ramesh Powar's dismissal in December. Hrishikesh Kanitkar, the batting coach, took charge of the team during the T20 World Cup earlier this year.

India is scheduled to tour Bangladesh next month, and the announcement of the new head coach is expected before that series. There are opinions that favor someone with fresh ideas, like Amol Muzumdar, to lead the team and build a strong player pool ahead of the T20 World Cup next year in Bangladesh.

In addition to the head coach selection, Ajit Agarkar is considered the frontrunner for the chief selector's post for the Indian men's team. The CAC is expected to appoint the chief selector after finalizing the women's team head coach. The role has been vacant since Chetan Sharma's departure in February.

The deadline for applications is June 30, and the interviews are likely to be conducted on July 1. The BCCI official mentioned that the CAC is looking for a selector who can assert their authority in case of differences with the high-profile team management.

Ajit Agarkar, a former Indian cricketer who played 26 Tests and 191 ODIs, is likely to be appointed as the chief selector. If selected, he would join Salil Ankola as the two selectors from the West Zone. Agarkar was previously linked to the chief selector's position and is expected to handle the high-pressure role. He recently served in the support staff of the Delhi Capitals during the IPL.
