The ICC recently announced the schedule for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The tournament will commence with a match between defending champions England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Hosts India will play their first game on October 8 against Australia, followed by a match against Afghanistan on October 11. The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, will then face Pakistan on October 15 in Ahmedabad.

Pakistan's schedule involves playing their first two matches against qualifier teams in Hyderabad before facing India. However, their participation in the World Cup is uncertain, as the final decision rests with the Pakistan government. Reports suggest that the government plans to send a security delegation to assess the arrangements in India. If the delegation finds the environment safe for the Pakistani team, it will pave the way for their visit to India for the World Cup.

The exact date of the delegation's visit will be determined by the government in consultation with the interior and foreign ministries. The visit is expected to take place after the conclusion of Eid vacations and once the Pakistan Cricket Board appoints its new head. The delegation will assess the security measures and other preparations at the World Cup venues in Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. Of particular interest is the India-Pakistan match scheduled for October 15 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

Following their assessment, the delegation will submit a report to the PCB, which will then make a decision regarding Pakistan's participation in the ODI World Cup.
