Preparing for the upcoming three-match T20 Internationals series against India, Irish wicketkeeper-batter Lorcan Tucker is eager to make a strong impression against one of the world's top cricket teams.

During India's last visit to Ireland in June the previous year for a similar two-match series, India emerged victorious with a 2-0 win. This time around, they are aiming for a similar outcome, especially with the return of key bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna from injuries. These players are striving to secure their spots in the World Cup team.

However, Ireland is determined not to be mere pushovers. They are confident in their ability to put up a fierce fight against India, capitalizing on their familiarity with home conditions. Tucker believes in his team's improved performance owing to the substantial experience gained by players over the past year.

"We've had an eventful cricketing year, particularly in T20 cricket. We've recently performed well in Scotland, securing qualification for next year's World Cup. So, there's a palpable excitement among the team. Our previous encounters with India were quite engaging, and everyone is eagerly anticipating the buildup and the enthusiastic crowd. The energy and buzz will be remarkable," Tucker shared in an interview with Ireland Cricket's official website.

Tucker's optimism stems from both his team's prowess and his own recent achievement in a domestic match in the Inter-Provincial Cup, where he scored an impressive 133 runs off 93 balls.

"Today was a productive day - spending extended time on the field helped me iron out some issues that had been persisting throughout the summer. The thrill and positivity from that performance will certainly fuel our momentum heading into this significant series," Tucker added.

The three-match T20I series is scheduled to take place in Dublin on August 18, 20, and 23. Cricket Ireland announced that the initial two matches have already sold out, and they have secured an official broadcaster, TNT Sports, for Ireland and the UK.

At 26 years old, Tucker emphasized that the team has gained valuable experience from their participation in major tournaments and matches against formidable opponents like India. This experience will embolden them as they approach the forthcoming matches.

"Our team is well-versed in handling high-pressure situations. We've participated in World Cups and faced India previously. We understand the dynamics of these intense contests. They are the pinnacle of the cricketing season for Irish fans. Our aim is to leave a lasting impression, maintaining a relaxed yet confident approach. That's our guiding principle," he elaborated.

"Malahide holds a unique charm, especially when a prominent team visits. We recognize that India will have significant support, but the sheer size of the crowd is a wonderful boost for cricket in Ireland," Tucker concluded.

Ireland has assembled a formidable squad including experienced players like captain Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie, Harry Tector, George Dockrell, Craig Young, and Josh Little.

The Ireland squad includes: Paul Stirling (capt), Andrew Balbirnie, Mark Adair, Ross Adair, Curtis Campher, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Fionn Hand, Josh Little, Barry McCarthy, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Theo van Woerkom, Ben White, Craig Young.
