The T20 World Cup 2024, hosted by the USA and the West Indies, is underway. Virat Kohli's form has become a topic of concern in the current tournament. As an opener, he has scored only five runs in three matches. King Kohli hasn't been able to form a significant partnership with Rohit Sharma so far. With the group stage over, the Indian team is now gearing up for the Super Eight. It is crucial for the Indian team that their star batsman returns to form before the next stage. Batting coach Vikram Rathore discussed Kohli's form.

India vs Canada Match Cancelled

The match between India and Canada, scheduled for Saturday in Florida, was called off without a ball being bowled. The toss did not take place, and after two inspections of the field, the umpires decided to cancel the match. Heavy rain before the match had left the field wet, and despite efforts by the ground staff to dry it, their attempts were unsuccessful. This was the fourth match in the current T20 World Cup to be abandoned due to rain.

Coach Expresses Confidence in Kohli

Following the match cancellation, Team India's batting coach Vikram Rathore addressed concerns about Kohli's form. He stated that getting out a few times doesn't change anything and that Kohli is batting well. Rathore said, "I feel good when questions about Virat Kohli's performance are asked. There is nothing to worry about. He has come here after playing in the IPL and is batting wonderfully. Getting out two or three times like this doesn't change anything. He is batting well."

Rathore further added, "He is hungry for better batting and is ready for it. I think this is a good thing for a batsman. We are prepared for some good matches and have seen his excellent innings."

India Already Through to the Super Eight

The Indian team has already advanced to the Super Eight from Group A, and the cancellation of the match against Canada has not affected their position. The match was a good opportunity for India to test their bench strength before the Super Eight stage. The Indian team will now face Afghanistan on June 20 in the Super Eight. India finished the group stage with seven points from three wins in four matches, topping Group A without losing a single match. On the other hand, Canada's team is currently in third place with three points from one win and two losses in four matches, ahead of Pakistan. Pakistan and Ireland are set to play at the same stadium on Sunday.
