Delhi Capitals have made a significant change in their squad by signing Australia's Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi, who has been ruled out of IPL 2024 due to a lower back injury sustained during the SA20 playoffs. According to a statement from Cricket South Africa (CSA), Ngidi is undergoing rehabilitation with his provincial team, the Momentum Multiply Titans, and is expected to return to play in the second half of the ongoing CSA T20 Challenge in April.

Fraser-McGurk, aged 21, recently made his international debut and holds the record for the fastest century in List-A cricket, achieving it in just 29 balls. He surpassed AB de Villiers's previous record of 31 balls while representing South Australia late last year. His impressive performances include a productive Big Bash League (BBL) season, where he scored 257 runs in 8 games at a striking rate of 158.64.

The young talent joins Delhi Capitals for his reserve price of INR 50 lakh, adding depth and firepower to their batting lineup. This signing comes at a time when DC has faced challenges with player availability, losing Harry Brook for the season due to family reasons. Additionally, they are monitoring the status of Anrich Nortje and eagerly awaiting Rishabh Pant's return to action, further highlighting the dynamics within the DC camp as they prepare for IPL 2024.
