The newly-formed opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal left an indelible mark on India's two-match Test series against the West Indies, creating several records along the way. Jaiswal, making his International debut, played a pivotal role alongside captain Sharma as they dominated the Caribbean series.

In the second innings of the second Test, the star duo unleashed their T20 beast mode, etching their names in the record books of Test cricket. In the first Test, they orchestrated a mammoth 229-run partnership for the opening wicket, displaying their batting prowess.

Their outstanding performances led to the establishment of the record for the highest opening wicket partnership aggregate for India in an away series, surpassing the previous record set by Virender Sehwag and Akash Chopra in Australia during the 2003-04 series.

Additionally, their combined score of 466 runs in the series ranks as the third-highest aggregate for India for the opening wicket, behind only Sunil Gavaskar-Chetan Chauhan and Virender Sehwag-Gautam Gambhir, both achieved at home.

The remarkable 466-run aggregate also stands as India's highest opening partnership in a two-match Test series and the third-highest in the world, trailing only two South African pairs - Graeme Smith-Neil McKenzie and Dean Elgar-Aiden Markam.

In the second Test, the Indian duo displayed a brilliant run rate of 8.28, setting a new record for the highest opening run-rate figure for India (minimum 50 runs scored), surpassing the previous record held by Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir against South Africa in 2010.

Throughout the series, Jaiswal amassed 266 runs, while Sharma contributed 240 runs, with both players achieving their respective centuries in the first Test and scoring fifties in the second innings of the final Test.

The remarkable performance of the dynamic opening pair has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on India's Test cricket and has cemented their place in the record books.
