Gujarat Titans have included Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka in place of New Zealand's Kane Williamson. Williamson was injured while fielding against Chennai Super Kings in the first match of the 16th season of IPL. Shanaka has got IPL contact for the first time. Shanaka will join the team after Gujarat's second match against Delhi Capitals.
Shanaka has played 181 T20 matches. During this he scored 141. Has scored 3702 runs at a strike rate of 94. He has also taken 59 wickets at an economy rate of 8.8. Shanaka scored 124 runs at a strike rate of 187.87 in the three T20 series against India this year. He is running in excellent form. Gujarat will benefit from Shanaka's experience.

Williamson was injured trying to stop six
Got injured in the 13th over while fielding. In the 13th over, Chennai opener Rituraj Gaikwad hit a high shot off Joshua Little. It looked like the ball would go out for six runs, but Kane Williamson, standing on the boundary line, caught the ball as it jumped. Just as he was about to fall outside the boundary line, he threw the ball inwards. Williamson saved six runs, but got his knee injured.
Dasun Shanaka has replaced Ken Williamson. He's an ideal replacement, and the Gujarat Titans now have another all-rounder with power batting and part-time bowling. Happy to see @dasunshanaka1 #GTvsDC
