 Sania Mirza's appointment as the mentor for the Bangalore franchise for WTL 2023 stunned the audience.

 When the Bangalore franchise assembled a potent team for the Women's T20 League's debut season, they grabbed attention on February 13, 2023. The Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai hosted the first-ever auction. Star athletes like Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, and Renuka Singh were able to sign with Bangalore.

Now, on 15 February, the franchise confirmed that the former Indian Tennis great, Sania Mirza will be their mentor. On Twitter, they wrote: “The pioneer in Indian sports for women, a youth icon, someone who has played Bold and broken barriers throughout her career, and a champion on and off the field. We are proud to welcome Sania Mirza as the mentor of the Bangalore franchise women’s cricket team.”

Sania Mirza hung up her boots from professional Tennis after the completion of recent Australian Open. Speaking about it, Sania Mirza said that she was surprised a little but excited also after becoming a part of the franchise.: “I was a little surprised but I was excited. Fortunately or unfortunately, I’ve been a professional athlete for 20 years. My next job is to try and help young women and young girls believe that sports can be one of the first career choices for them.”
