IND vs BAN: India Crush Bangladesh by 86 Runs, Clinch T20I Series with Record-Breaking Win

File - BCCI

India secured a dominant 86-run victory over Bangladesh in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. This win marks India's largest T20I win against Bangladesh in terms of runs, surpassing their previous biggest margin of 50 runs achieved in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

India posted a formidable total of 221/9 in 20 overs, thanks to half-centuries by Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh. In reply, Bangladesh struggled, managing only 135/9 in their allotted overs. The victory also ensured India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Key Moments:

·

India’s Innings:

·

After being invited to bat, India's top order faltered with early wickets, as Sanju Samson (1), Abhishek Sharma (15), and captain Suryakumar Yadav (8) departed cheaply.

However, Nitish Reddy (74 off 34 balls) and Rinku Singh (53 off 29 balls) stabilized the innings with a 108-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Nitish, who was dropped early in his innings, went on to register his maiden T20I fifty, hitting 7 sixes and 4 fours.

Rinku Singh also impressed, scoring his third T20I half-century.

Late cameos from Hardik Pandya (32 off 19) and Riyan Parag (15 off 6) helped India cross the 200-run mark.

·

Bangladesh’s Response:

·

In their chase of 222, Bangladesh's batting collapsed, with only Mahmudullah showing some resistance, scoring 41 off 39 balls.

No other batsman could provide substantial support as India’s bowlers struck at regular intervals.

Impressively, seven Indian bowlers claimed wickets for the first time in a T20I match. Nitish Reddy, Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Yadav, and Riyan Parag all took one or two wickets each.

With this victory, India not only sealed the series but also registered their highest T20I score against Bangladesh. Their dominant performance with both bat and ball once again highlighted their superiority over their neighbors in the shortest format of the game.
