The warm-up match between the South Africa women's cricket team and the Board President’s XI women at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday was abandoned due to rain. Despite the enthusiasm surrounding the match, only 14 overs of play were possible before the weather intervened.

The Board President’s XI, having won the toss, had reached 71 for the loss of one wicket. Shweta Sehrawat was unbeaten on 24 runs off 33 balls, hitting four boundaries, while Shubha Satheesh was batting on 18 off 20 balls, including two fours. The South African pacer, Tumi Sekhukhune, took the only wicket of the day, dismissing Indian opener Priya Punia for 25 runs off 31 balls in the seventh over.

This disruption has added to the anticipation for the upcoming ODI series, starting this Sunday in Bengaluru. This series is part of a larger tour that includes three ODIs, a one-off Test match in Chennai, and three T20Is.

India will be taking on South Africa in the first ODI on Sunday, marking the beginning of a closely watched series. The teams will face off in three 50-over matches in Bengaluru before traveling to Chennai for the Test match and then moving on to the T20Is.

Stay tuned for updates as the teams prepare for the first ODI and aim to make the most of the remaining fixtures despite the initial setback due to rain.
