Yuvraj Singh, the former all-rounder of India appointed as the ambassador for the upcoming T20 World Cup, has discussed the team selection and possibilities regarding the tournament. He also revealed what India needs to do to lift the prestigious T20 World Cup trophy for the second time. Yuvraj talked about several options and also mentioned who should be India's preferred wicketkeeper. Yuvraj said that if Team India wants to win the T20 World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav's performance will be crucial.
Yuvraj said, "I think Jasprit Bumrah is playing an important role in bowling, and I would also like to see a leg-spinner like Yuzvendra Chahal in the team because he is bowling really well. However, speaking from a batting perspective, I would say that Suryakumar Yadav is a crucial player."
Yuvraj continued, "I believe that Suryakumar Yadav is India's key player. The way he plays, he has the ability to change the game within 15 balls. Besides, his selection is certain, and playing in the playing XI is also certain. For India, Surya's performance will be an X-factor in winning the T20 World Cup."
Yuvraj said, "I am impressed by Dinesh Karthik's performance this year in IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore, but I think this experienced wicketkeeper should only find a place in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup when it is certain that he will play in the playing XI. Yuvraj said, "DK (Karthik) is batting well, but the problem with him is that last time (2022) when he was selected for the T20 World Cup, he didn't get a chance to play."
He said, "If DK is not in your playing XI, then I don't think there is any point in selecting him. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson, both are in great form and they are young as well. I would like to see DK in the team, but if he is not going to play, then you need someone who is young and can make a difference."
