Rajasthan Royals clinched their seventh victory of the season by defeating Mumbai Indians comprehensively by nine wickets. This victory has strengthened Rajasthan's position at the top of the points table with 14 points. On the other hand, Mumbai is placed seventh with six points. After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians scored 179 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. In response, Rajasthan chased down the target of 180 runs in 18.4 overs with one wicket down.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler formed a solid partnership for the opening wicket, adding 74 runs. However, the match was affected by rain, and Piyush Chawla dismissed Buttler in the seventh over. Butler, who was the hero of the previous match, scored 35 runs against Mumbai. Following his dismissal, Sanju Samson took charge and partnered with Jaiswal to steer Rajasthan to victory.

Jaiswal's Century:

Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased his batting prowess against Mumbai Indians, targeting bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee to notch up a brilliant century. He faced 59 deliveries, hitting nine fours and seven sixes to reach 104 runs. Notably, this is Jaiswal's first century of the season and second in his IPL career. The 22-year-old played a crucial role in Rajasthan's victory, providing stability and firepower at the top.

Mumbai Indians' Batting Collapse:

Mumbai Indians faced early setbacks in their innings. They lost three wickets for just 20 runs. Trent Boult dismissed Rohit Sharma (6) in the first over, while Sandeep Sharma got rid of Ishan Kishan (0) and Suryakumar Yadav (10) in successive overs. However, Tilak Varma and Mohammad Nabi's partnership for the fourth wicket added 32 runs in 32 deliveries. Chahal's dismissal of Nabi for 23 runs off 17 balls further dented Mumbai's progress, leaving them at 52/4. Mumbai needed a substantial partnership to recover from the setback.

Tilak-Nehal's Rescue Act:

Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera's partnership for the fifth wicket added 99 runs and took Mumbai's score beyond 150 runs. Trent Boult dismissed Wadhera in the 17th over after he scored 49 runs off 24 balls, including three fours and four sixes. Hardik Pandya managed only 10 runs before being caught by Avi Khan off Chawla's bowling. Despite contributions from players like Gerald Coetzee and Tim David, Mumbai Indians fell short as Sandeep Sharma's five-wicket haul restricted them to 179/9.

Sandeep Sharma's Heroics:

Sandeep Sharma's impactful bowling performance yielded five wickets against Mumbai Indians. This is his first five-wicket haul in IPL history and third in this season, making him the third bowler to achieve this feat after Jasprit Bumrah and Yash Thakur. Trent Boult also contributed with two wickets, while Avi Khan and Chahal took one wicket each.
