The anticipation around India's 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies is building up, with PTI sources indicating that the squad is likely to be named in the last week of April. A BCCI source revealed that the ICC's cut-off date for team submissions is May 1, allowing participating teams a window until May 25 to make changes to their initial squads.

According to a senior BCCI official who spoke to PTI on the condition of anonymity, the selection process for the Indian team will coincide with the conclusion of the first half of the IPL. This timing is strategic, as it allows the national selection committee to assess the form and fitness of potential squad members.

"The Indian team will be selected sometime during the last week of April, by which time the first half of IPL will be over and the national selection committee will be in a position to assess form and fitness of the contenders," stated the BCCI source.

This timeline aligns with the need for thorough evaluation, considering the dynamic nature of cricket and the importance of selecting a squad that can perform optimally in the T20 World Cup. The flexibility provided until May 25 gives teams the opportunity to make adjustments based on player performances and fitness levels leading up to the tournament.
