In a significant update, it has been reported that Virat Kohli will not be playing in the upcoming third and fourth Tests against England in the ongoing five-match Test series. The decision, attributed to personal reasons, has raised doubts about Kohli's availability for the matches scheduled to be held in Rajkot and Ranchi.

The prolific batsman and former captain, Virat Kohli, who failed to participate in the last two Test matches, will continue to remain unavailable for the next two encounters. Kohli had sought leave from the team management citing personal reasons, and it is now confirmed that he will extend his absence from the series.

Virat Kohli's absence in the ongoing series has been linked to personal commitments, with reports suggesting that his wife, Anushka Sharma, is expecting their second child. This information was shared by Kohli's close friend AB de Villiers. The privacy clause in the BCCI contract allows players to take time off for personal matters, and Kohli's return to the series is expected only after the birth of his second child.

As per reports, there is also speculation that Virat Kohli might miss the fifth Test scheduled from March 7 to March 11. However, this will depend on the cricketer's decision and his readiness to return to the field after the family event.

Team India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, displayed a commendable performance in the second Test, securing a convincing victory against England by 106 runs. The series is currently level at 1-1, and all eyes are now on the upcoming third Test in Rajkot, which is set to begin on January 15. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to announce the squad for the remaining three matches of the series.

In the absence of Virat Kohli, there are possibilities of the return of players like Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul, who missed the previous matches due to injuries. Additionally, fast bowler Mohammed Siraj might make a comeback after being rested for the first two Tests against England. The final squad for the upcoming Tests is expected to be announced soon.
