In a glitzy ceremony held in Hyderabad, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honoured outstanding achievements in cricket at the BCCI Awards 2024. Shubman Gill and Deepti Sharma emerged as the big winners, securing prestigious accolades. Notably, Ravi Shastri and Farokh Engineer were also recognized with the Colonel C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award.

The awards ceremony, a first since 2019, preceded the Test series between India and England. The event witnessed the presence of the entire Indian Test team, along with the team's coach Rahul Dravid. Let's delve into the highlights of this remarkable evening.

Shubman Gill was crowned as India's Best Player for the year 2023. His stellar performances on the field earned him this coveted award. It's a recognition well-deserved for the young and talented cricketer who continues to shine in the cricketing arena.

Deepti Sharma was named the Best Female Player for the year 2023. This exceptional cricketer has consistently showcased her prowess on the field, making her an undisputed champion in women's cricket.

Farokh Engineer, a stalwart of Indian cricket, was bestowed with the Colonel C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. Engineer's illustrious career, spanning 46 Tests and five ODIs for India, was celebrated. His contributions to the game during the period of 1961 to 1975, where he scored 2611 runs, including two centuries and 16 half-centuries, were rightfully acknowledged.

Ravi Shastri, a cricketing maestro known for his versatility as a player, commentator, and coach, also received the Colonel C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. With 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India, Shastri has left an indelible mark on the cricketing landscape. His coaching stints, including leading the team to consecutive Test series victories in Australia, have added another feather to his illustrious cap.

In Shastri's coaching tenure, India reached the final of the 2019 World Test Championship but faced defeat at the hands of New Zealand. Despite this setback, Shastri expressed immense pride in the team's performance, highlighting their exceptional journey.
