Virat Kohli showcased his brilliance once again, notching up his 29th Test century on the second day of the second Test against the West Indies at Queen's Park Oval. The momentous century came in style with a sleek boundary off Shannon Gabriel when India's score was 314-4. This remarkable achievement coincided with his 500th international appearance and 111th Test match.
However, despite his impressive performance, Kohli was unfortunately run out for 121 when India's score reached 341-5. It marked only the third time in his Test career that he has been run out.
Notably, this century also marks Kohli's first international ton overseas since 2018. His previous century in overseas Tests was accomplished in December 2018 during India's tour of Australia.
On the previous day, Kohli had approached his century, coming within 13 runs overnight at stumps, with India rebounding from a challenging afternoon session to reach 288-4 against the West Indies.
With this century, Kohli also ascended to the 10th position on the list of combined appearances in the three formats, a testament to his exceptional cricketing prowess. This record is presently topped by another legendary Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, with a remarkable 664 appearances.
