In an impressive display of spin prowess, Ravi Ashwin surpassed iconic spinners Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh to become India's second-highest wicket-taker. During the second India vs. West Indies Test, he secured two vital wickets on Day 4, elevating his tallies in both International and Test cricket.
The 36-year-old star off-spinner now boasts an impressive record of 712 wickets across all formats, surpassing Harbhajan Singh's 711 wickets in International Cricket. Only Anil Kumble stands ahead with 956 scalps in all three formats, which also includes matches played for Asia XI.
Ashwin's achievements didn't end there. He also left behind Anil Kumble in the tally for most Test wickets against West Indies, with 75 wickets to his name, closely following Kapil Dev's 89 scalps.
As India eyes another victory in the two-game series against the West Indies, Ashwin's exceptional performance on Day 4 has brought them closer to their goal. With the Windies needing another 289 runs for a win and 8 wickets away from the result, Ashwin's bowling display has made a significant impact on the match.
