Cricket South Africa and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have confirmed the schedule for India's tour of South Africa in December 2023.
The tour will consist of three T20 Internationals (T20Is), followed by three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and two Test matches, including the traditional Boxing Day Test in Centurion and the New Year's Test in Cape Town.
The series will kick off with the three-match T20I series, serving as preparation for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup the following year. The T20Is will be hosted in Durban, Gqeberha, and Johannesburg.
Johannesburg and Gqeberha will also host the first two ODIs, with the third ODI taking place in Paarl.
Lawson Naidoo, Chairperson of Cricket South Africa, expressed excitement about the tour, stating, "Cricket South Africa eagerly awaits the arrival of the Indian Cricket Team and their passionate fans on our shores. This is an important tour for both teams, and I am really pleased that we will have a full tour comprising all three formats of the game."
Naidoo further highlighted the exceptional talent in both teams and the anticipation of exciting cricket and thrilling matches. The series will also provide an opportunity to showcase the best of South Africa, with matches spread across the nation.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also emphasized the significance of the tour, stating, "The Freedom Series is significant not just because it features two excellent Test teams, but also because it honors Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, two great leaders who shaped our respective nations and the world around them."
Shah noted that the schedule has been planned around the marquee Boxing Day Test and the New Year's Test, which are important fixtures on the international cricket calendar. He expressed confidence that fans would witness enthralling contests with no shortage of intensity.

1st T20I: Sunday, 10 December - Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium, Durban
2nd T20I: Tuesday, 12 December - St George’s Park, Gqeberha
3rd T20I: Thursday, 14 December - DP World Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg
1st ODI: Sunday, 17 December - Betway Pink Day - DP World Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg
2nd ODI: Tuesday, 19 December - St George’s Park, Gqeberha
3rd ODI: Thursday, 21 December - Boland Park, Paarl
1st Test: 26 December – 30 December - SuperSport Park, Centurion
2nd Test: 03 January – 07 January - Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town
