The first day of the 1st Test match between India and West Indies in Dominica saw the West Indies team batting first after winning the toss. West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. India handed Test debuts to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan. The match is expected to be played with a combination of three seamers and two spinners.

Ravichandran Ashwin is likely to partner with Ravindra Jadeja after missing the World Test Championship final. Another option for the second spinner's position is Axar Patel.

Ishan Kishan is expected to make his Test debut as a wicketkeeper-batsman, challenging KS Bharat for the role. Virat Kohli is returning to Dominica after 12 years, having played his last Test match at Windsor Park in 2011.

India captain Rohit Sharma hinted at a 3-2 bowling combination, favoring two spinners and three seamers based on the conditions and previous matches played on the pitch.

The match is anticipated to be an exciting contest with the inclusion of debutants and experienced players from both teams.
