The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made a groundbreaking announcement regarding prize money equality for men and women in all ICC events. This decision was made during the ICC Annual Conference held in Durban, South Africa, and marks a significant achievement as the ICC Board exceeded its target of achieving prize money equity by 2030.
Under the new policy, teams will receive equal prize money for finishing in the same position at comparable events, and the amount for winning a match will also be the same for both men and women. This move aims to ensure that men's and women's cricketers participating in ICC global events are rewarded equally.
ICC Chairman Greg Barclay expressed his delight about this historic moment in the sport's history, emphasizing that the decision reinforces the fact that cricket is a sport for all. He highlighted that since 2017, the ICC has been progressively increasing prize money for women's events with the goal of achieving parity. Going forward, winning the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, as well as the T20 World Cups and U19 tournaments, will carry the same prize money as winning the corresponding men's events.

He took to his official Twitter account to share his thoughts, stating, "Start of a new dawn. An era of equality & empowerment. I am thrilled to announce that a major step towards gender parity & inclusivity has been undertaken. The prize money at all @ICC events will be the same for men & women. Together we grow."
