India is currently engaged in a Test series against the West Indies, and they emerged victorious in the first match with an impressive innings and 141-run win. The team showcased several standout performers in the match. Looking ahead to the second Test, India's batting coach, Vikram Rathour, has identified a young player who he believes can lead the Indian batting lineup in the future and excel in all three formats of the game.

Rathour has expressed his confidence in Shubman Gill's abilities and predicts that he will soon become a regular member of the playing XI across all formats. Gill's performance in Test matches outside of Asia has faced scrutiny after a recent failure at the number three position against the West Indies. However, Rathour believes that the 23-year-old has ample time to develop and expects him to succeed due to his hard work and temperament, which are characteristic of great players.

"He possesses immense potential, and he has already shown that potential in other formats. He has also scored runs in Test cricket. Sometimes, it might take a bit of time to adjust to a particular format, and he is taking that time. But he has that time. Given his potential, I have no doubt that he is the future of Indian batting. He will represent the Indian team for a long time, in all three formats," Rathour stated during a press conference ahead of the second Test against the West Indies.

"While he may be taking some time, the positive aspect is that he is dedicated and working on his game. In addition to his potential, he possesses the temperament required to excel at the highest level. Once again, there's no doubt that he will play in all three formats for a long time," added the India batting coach.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made an impressive debut for India in the Test match, scoring a magnificent 171 in the first innings. Rathour was highly impressed by the youngster's adaptability to the Test format, despite being known for his aggressive style in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"As a former selector, when you pick a player, you should do so with the intent that he will represent India for the next decade. Yashasvi definitely possesses the potential to do so. Although I haven't worked with him previously, I observed him scoring runs in the IPL. He displayed his dynamic batting skills and stroke-play. However, what stood out to me was his ability to adapt to the team's situation," Rathour explained.

"On the second day, he scored around 20 runs off 90 balls before Lunch. That, for me, was the highlight of his innings. It was phenomenal to witness someone who can play against their natural game and adjust their approach to score big runs. There's absolutely no doubt that he has enormous potential and a bright future with the Indian team in all three formats," Rathour concluded.
