Australian cricketer David Warner, who has been struggling with his form for a while, is reportedly considering retirement from the long format of the game, according to his wife, Candice Warner. The left-handed aggressive batsman has been unable to perform well in recent matches.
Warner, who made his international debut in 2009, has had an illustrious career, scoring over 14,000 runs in international cricket. He has registered 25 Test centuries, 19 ODI centuries, and 1 T20I century. Notably, he became the first Australian batsman to score 7 ODI centuries in a calendar year.
In a recent social media post, Candice Warner shared a family photo with a caption that hinted at the end of their era of touring with Test cricket, expressing that it has been an enjoyable journey.
When asked about Warner's place in the playing XI for the fourth Test in Manchester, Australia captain Pat Cummins responded by stating that the team is considering all options. This comment suggests that Warner might be dropped from the team. Cummins mentioned that they have a break of nine or ten days, during which they will regroup and reassess their strategy. He also mentioned the return of injured players, Cameron Green and Josh Hazlewood, which indicates the availability of a full squad for the upcoming match.
