Confusion continues regarding the schedule of the World Cup 2023. It was to be announced after the final of the World Test Championship. But more than a week has passed since the finals in London ended and the wait is not over yet. The official announcement of the schedule of the World Cup has not been done yet. The major reason for this delay can also be said to be the obstinate attitude of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The Pakistan Cricket Board has some problems regarding the venue. And BCCI officials have blamed the Pakistan Cricket Board for the delay, terming them 'unsafe'.
A news website Inside Sports quoted a top BCCI official as saying, "The PCB can say whatever it wants. But the fact is that PCB is the reason for the delay in announcing the schedule. Earlier, Pakistan was not ready to play in Ahmedabad. Now he does not want to play in Chennai. They have always been insecure.
A draft of the World Cup schedule was sent to the ICC by the BCCI. According to this, the match between India and Pakistan was to be held in Ahmedabad on 15 October. The Pakistan Cricket Board refused to play in Ahmedabad citing security reasons. After this news came that BCCI gave Pakistan Cricket Board an option to play in Chennai. However, now Pakistan has objections to this draft as well. According to reports, PCB has requested BCCI to change its venue against Afghanistan in Chennai.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has again changed its stance and said that its participation in the World Cup 2023 depends on government permission. He had said on Friday itself that his participation in the ODI World Cup depends on the permission of the Pakistani government.
Sethi had said, 'We have written to the ICC that we cannot deny or allow participation in the World Cup'
