The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is currently embroiled in a dispute with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the venue for their clash with Team India in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. The focal point of the controversy is the selection of Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as the venue for the match. However, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has criticized the PCB for making an unnecessary fuss over the choice of venues.

In a video uploaded by Cricket Pakistan, Akram expressed his views on the matter, stating that while he understands the presence of egos, it is important to move on and focus on executing the plans. He emphasized the need for proper planning and execution, suggesting that if the PCB cannot fulfill their planned actions, they should avoid causing such controversies that become a source of amusement. Akram acknowledged the patriotism that players have for their countries but emphasized that, in the end, cricket is just a game and any issues between governments should be resolved by the respective authorities.

Akram further added that there is no issue with playing in Ahmedabad, and Pakistan will play wherever they are assigned to play. He highlighted that the Pakistani players do not have any concerns about the venue and are ready to compete wherever their schedule takes them.

Moving on to the details of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, the fixtures list has been released, unveiling the ten venues for the tournament, which will span across 46 days later this year. The World Cup will commence on October 5 with a match between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, reminiscent of the 2019 Final.

The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled for Sunday, October 15, also to be held in Ahmedabad. The previous encounter between the two teams in the 2019 World Cup was an enthralling high-scoring affair that resulted in a comprehensive victory for India in Manchester.

A total of 10 teams will participate in the showcase event, with the first eight already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The remaining two spots will be determined at the end of the ongoing Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, which is set to conclude on July 9.

In the World Cup, each team will play against the other nine teams in a round-robin format, leading to the top four teams advancing to the knockout stage, including the semi-finals. The tournament promises to be a platform for top-level cricket and intense competition as teams vie for the prestigious title.
