England may have had to face defeat in the first Test of Ashes 2023, but there is good news for the team's star batsman Joe Root. Joe Root has reached number one in the latest ICC Test rankings. Root snatched the crown of No. 1 Test batsman from Marnus Labuschagne.
Root achieved this feat thanks to a century in the Edgbaston Test, while Marnus Labushen had to lose the number-1 ranking due to his cheap dismissal. Like Labushen, Steve Smith and Travis Head have also had to pay the price of failure in the form of loss of ranking.
