The same media release further stated “Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Virat Kohli fined 100 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during their Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium has been applied. Kohli has admitted to a Level 2 offense under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct."

After the match, Kohli and Gambhir had an altercation, which was followed by Amit Mishra, RCB captain Faf du Plessis and LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya had to come to the rescue.Kohli was later seen talking to LSG skipper KL Rahul.

What happened in the match?
The whole affair started in the 17th over of Lucknow's innings when Virat came running from behind the stumps and gestured something to Naveen. On this, Naveen of Afghanistan also came close to him and an argument started between the two. During this debate, Virat also pointed towards his shoe and took out mud from it, as if talking about status. Its Dinesh Karthik of RCB takes away Naveen and umpire Kohli. Lucknow's Amit Mishra, who is at the non-striking end, tries to pacify Kohli, while Virat angrily confronts him as well.
