When asked about the possible winner, de Villiers said – it is very difficult to say. Long back I had said during the IPL auction that Gujarat Titans are going to win back-to-back titles. I'll stick to that even though I want RCB to win. Since last year, I have realized that RCB has a really great team. This team is very well balanced. He has enough power. Hope RCB becomes the winner this year.

AB de Villiers says Virat Kohli has appeared relaxed and happy this season after stepping down from the IPL and captaincy of the national team. Kohli played an unbeaten 82 against Mumbai. His innings helped RCB register an eight-wicket win against Mumbai. Kohli stepped down from the captaincy of RCB in 2021. Since then Faf Duplessis is captaining the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. 

In response to what changes he has seen in Kohli's batting in recent years, de Villiers said – I have not seen much change. Everything is as before. The tech looks solid. He has got good balance at the crease. He is still a busy player between the wickets. He shows his energy on the field. I just think Kohli is looking fresh this season. I have seen some of his interviews where he is laughing more than ever.

De Villiers said- I think Kohli has got rest after leaving the captaincy last season. He was a brilliant captain, but he did it for a long time at the international level and also in the IPL, which can be challenging. You never get time. So players can chill or spend time with family or have a laugh with some friends. I think that is his mantra for this season. Just going out and having fun and smiling.
