India defeated New Zealand by six wickets in the second match of the three T20 series. New Zealand decided to bat first in this match played at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. He scored 99 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. In response, India won the match by scoring 101 runs for the loss of four wickets in 19.5 overs. After the match, Indian captain Hardik Pandya looked disappointed with the Lucknow pitch. He said that it is not fit for T20 cricket.

New Zealand scored 99 runs for eight wickets. No batsman could touch the figure of 20 runs for him. Captain Mitchell Santner scored the highest 19 not out. Michael Braswell 14, Mark Chapman 14, Finn Allen 11 and Devon Conway were dismissed for 11 runs. Arshdeep Singh took two wickets for India. Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Hooda and Kuldeep Yadav got one success each.

In response, India achieved the target in the last over with one ball to spare. Ishaan Kishan 19, Rahul Tripathi 13, Shubman Gill 11 and Washington Sundar were dismissed after scoring 10 runs. Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 26 off 31 balls and Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 15 off 20 balls to give the team victory. Not a single six was hit in both the innings of the match. Ish Sodhi and Michael Braswell took one wicket each for New Zealand.
