T20 World Cup: Inzamam-ul-Haq Furious After Rohit Sharma's Comments on Reverse Swing Allegations

India's left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh took three wickets in the match against Australia on Monday in Gros Islet, helping India secure a place in the semi-finals with a 24-run victory. During a discussion on a Pakistani channel, Inzamam-ul-Haq accused Arshdeep Singh and the Indian team of ball tampering to achieve reverse swing.

Former Pakistan cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq commented on the Indian pacers getting reverse swing at the end of the innings. He stated that Indian bowlers were tampering with the ball to get reverse swing, and ICC should look into it. However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma hit back at Inzamam, advising him to use his brain and dismissing his claims as nonsense. Inzamam, irked by Rohit's response, made another statement.

Rohit Sharma's Sharp Response:

In a match in New York, Indian pacers stunned the world with their bowling. Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup in a low-scoring game. The Indian pacers continued their brilliance in subsequent matches, including a 24-run win over defending champions Australia. Inzamam accused Indian bowlers of ball tampering following these performances.

When asked about Inzamam's allegations on the eve of the semi-final against England, Rohit advised the former Pakistani batsman to keep an open mind. Rohit said, "What can I say about this? The pitches here are dry and hard. Due to the conditions, the ball will reverse swing between the 12th and 15th overs. This is happening to all teams, not just us. You need to keep an open mind. This is not Australia or England."

Inzamam’s Retort:

Reacting to Rohit's comments, Inzamam stated, "Rohit Sharma doesn't need to teach us how reverse swing works, or the intensity of the sun, or on which pitch it happens. Those who teach you such things don't need to be taught. We should tell them that such statements are not appropriate."

Indian Team’s Journey to the Final:

India has reached the final of the T20 World Cup 2024, set to face South Africa on June 29 at Kensington Oval in Barbados. Both teams remain unbeaten in the tournament so far. India hasn't won an ICC title since 2013, while South Africa last won an ICC tournament in 1998 (Champions Trophy). This will be the first time in T20 World Cup history that an unbeaten team will lift the trophy.
