The countdown for the T20 World Cup 2024 has begun. A warm-up match between Bangladesh and India took place on Saturday. In the match held at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, the Indian team, batting first after winning the toss, scored 182 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh managed to score only 121 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs.
Bangladesh's Innings
Chasing a target of 193 runs, Bangladesh had a poor start. Two of their batsmen were dismissed without scoring. These included opener Soumya Sarkar and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Tanzid Hasan scored 17, and Litton Das was out for six runs. Shakib Al Hasan (28) and Mahmudullah (40) then tried to stabilize the innings. Rishad Hossain was out for five, Zakir Ali for zero. Mehidy Hasan and Tanzim were out for two and one run respectively. For India, Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube took two wickets each, while Bumrah, Siraj, Pandya, and Axar Patel got one wicket each.
India's Innings
India's start was not very promising. Sanju Samson, opening with Rohit Sharma, managed only one run before being trapped LBW by Shoriful Islam. Rishabh Pant then took charge. The second wicket fell when the Indian captain was dismissed for 23 runs, caught by Rishad off Mahmudullah's bowling. The star wicketkeeper-batsman, Pant, retired out after scoring 53 runs at a strike rate of 165.62, hitting four fours and four sixes. In this match, Suryakumar Yadav scored 31, Shivam Dube 14, Hardik Pandya 40, and Ravindra Jadeja four runs. Pandya and Jadeja remained unbeaten. For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan, Shoriful Islam, Mahmudullah, and Tanvir Islam took one wicket each.
