Ireland has unveiled its 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup and the team for the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan, along with a tri-series involving Netherlands and Scotland. Notably, Ireland pacer Josh Little, currently participating in the IPL with the Gujarat Titans, has been granted permission to continue until the end of the IPL.
The Irish squad, led by veteran opener Paul Stirling, remains largely unchanged across both series and the T20 World Cup. However, the inclusion of Josh Little adds depth to their bowling unit, with his expected arrival just ahead of the mega tournament.
Little, who recently showcased his prowess by taking four wickets in a crucial match for the Titans, is set to conclude his IPL commitments by May 16, aligning with the Titans' final league stage match.
Ireland's head coach, Heinrich Malan, expressed confidence in the squad's composition, stating, "The squad is one that we have gradually developed and tested out over the last 18 or so months – the skill sets we need to cover are there, albeit we have allowed Josh [Little] to continue in the IPL until his side ends their campaign, so he will likely join us ahead of the big tournament."
The upcoming T20 series against Pakistan commences on May 10, followed by the tri-series starting on May 19. Ireland's journey in the T20 World Cup commences with a match against India on June 5 in New York.
