Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, the Lucknow Super Giants are facing a significant setback as their captain and star batsman, KL Rahul, may miss the tournament due to injury. Rahul's recent injury forced him to sit out the final four matches of the India vs. England series. The BCCI revealed that he is currently under medical observation in London.

KL Rahul's absence could pose a major challenge for the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024. The Indian team's selectors have omitted him from the squad for the Test series against England, citing ongoing medical consultations in London. Rahul had complained of discomfort in his right quadriceps after the first match against England, leading to his rest for the second Test. Although he was declared 90% fit before the third Test, he still couldn't make it to the team for the fourth Test.

This isn't the first time Rahul has faced injury concerns, as he missed out on playing in the previous IPL season due to injury as well. His absence saw Karun Nair stepping in as his replacement. However, Rahul made a remarkable comeback to represent India in the World Cup, scoring 274 runs in nine matches in the previous edition, including two half-centuries.

In light of KL Rahul's potential absence, the Lucknow Super Giants have appointed Nicholas Pooran as the team's vice-captain. Rahul's absence will undoubtedly be felt as Pooran takes on a leadership role for the team. The wicketkeeper-batsman, who made his IPL debut in 2019, scored a total of 358 runs in 15 matches last season.
