The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to make tickets for the upcoming 50-over World Cup available for purchase online by August 10. The ticket pricing will be finalized by individual staging associations.
BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, held a meeting with state associations in New Delhi, where he outlined the process of ticket sales. The state bodies were asked to share their ticket prices with the BCCI by July 31. It was clarified that fans will need to use paper tickets to enter the stadium during the marquee events.
To facilitate ticket collection, the BCCI will set up extra collection centers in each city, separate from the stadium, where fans can pick up their physical tickets a week before the match. The e-ticket system will first be introduced in bilateral games.
During the meeting, the BCCI informed the state associations that a certain quota of tickets needs to be reserved for the parent body and the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ICC and BCCI will receive 300 free hospitality tickets per game, while the state associations will also have to provide 1295 tickets for league games and 1355 tickets for India and semi-final games to the ICC. Additionally, the state association will have to provide 500 general tickets free of cost to the Indian board. If the ICC and BCCI wish to purchase additional hospitality tickets (250 hospitality and 1800 general tickets for ICC, 300 tickets each in hospitality and general stand tickets for BCCI), the state should make them available.
The BCCI is emphasizing the availability of concession-based quality food products at affordable prices and with hygienic distribution. The board is collaborating with a well-known beverage company to provide complimentary drinking water at each stadium.
State associations will be responsible for installing in-stadia signages and implementing a plan for waste disposal.
The World Cup is scheduled to begin on October 5.
