Veteran India batsman Ajinkya Rahane will play for English county side Leicestershire in Division Two after the two-Test series against the West Indies at home. Former India captain Rahane made a successful comeback to the Indian team earlier this month with the World Test Championship final against Australia.

After representing the Chennai Super Kings in 2014, he was to play the entire Royal London Cup (a 50-over domestic tournament) between June and September, as well as eight first-class matches for the team. However, he could not join this county team due to his return to the Indian Test team.

Ajinkya will head straight to England after the two Tests in the West Indies and will join Leicestershire for the rest of the season. He will play in the Royal London Cup in August and possibly four county matches in September as he is not expected to make it into the limited overs team.

Rahane will be seen playing county cricket for the second time. before that He played for Hampshire in the 2019 season when he was dropped from the 50-over World Cup squad. Rahane, who scored 89 in India's first innings in the WTC final, recently completed 5,000 runs in 83 Tests.
