Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Thursday said that the future of Asia Cup 2023 will be discussed after the IPL. The matter regarding the host of the Asia Cup is yet to be resolved. While Pakistan is vying to host the tournament, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is looking for a new host. Actually, the President of ACC is Jai Shah and he had said last year itself that the Indian team will not go to Pakistan. He had said that it could be done in a neutral country. Now Jai Shah has given a new update in this matter. He has said that the final decision regarding the Asia Cup will be taken after the IPL 2023 final.
Jai Shah said, “The respective presidents of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka Cricket Board will come to Ahmedabad on May 28. All these will grace the Tata IPL 2023 final to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium. We will discuss with him to chalk out the future course of action regarding Asia Cup 2023. Interestingly, the name of Pakistan Cricket Board President Najam Sethi is missing from it. That is, the invitation has not been sent to them. Earlier, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) supported the BCCI in shifting this year's Asia Cup tournament out of Pakistan.
