Five-time champions Mumbai Indians suffered a 55-run defeat at the hands of defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Chasing a mammoth target of 208 runs, the Gujarat team could only manage 152 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Afghanistan's spin duo Noor Ahmed, who was in Gujarat, took three wickets for 37 runs and Rashid Khan took two wickets for 27 runs. Mumbai's batting has been a flop in many matches this season and now former batsman Sunil Gavaskar has given necessary advice to Rohit Sharma to return to form.

Rohit has not been able to do anything special so far

Rohit scored two runs in eight balls against Gujarat. Gavaskar says that Rohit should take time out and take a break from cricket. Gavaskar suggested that Rohit should focus more on the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final. Gavaskar has said that the Mumbai skipper is looking a bit busier than before.

Gavaskar said- I would like to see some changes in the batting order of Mumbai Indians. To be honest, I would also say that Rohit should also take a break for some time and keep himself fit for the World Test Championship final. He might come back again for the last few matches of Mumbai but for now he should give himself some rest.

What advice did Gavaskar give?

Gavaskar said- Rohit is looking a bit worried. He may be thinking about the WTC final at this stage. I don't know much, but I believe he needs a break now and come back to the Mumbai team for the last three or four matches so that he is in shape for the World Test Championship final. Rohit has now scored 181 runs in seven matches in this IPL season at an average of 25.86 and a strike rate of 135.07. This includes only one half-century.

Kohli also took a break last year
Former India captain Virat Kohli took a break from cricket last year after a poor run of form. Kohli has spoken about mental health several times and explained what went wrong with him during his poor form. Kohli told during an interview last year – I definitely feel very light. It was not just the workload, but other things happening as well, that pushed me to that point.

What did Kohli say about the break?

Kohli said- I learned a lot during the break from cricket. I was just looking at things from one perspective. You play with passion, you play with a lot of heart, but the outside perception is not the same. People cannot understand its value. India on Tuesday announced its squad for the WTC final against Australia, which saw the return of Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane has been in scintillating form this season playing for Chennai Super Kings.

Rahane, who has played 82 Tests, last played for India in the longest format against South Africa in January last year. Since then he has not been considered for selection due to poor form. Rahane was also dropped from the BCCI's central contract this year. The final of the World Test Championship will be played at the Oval ground in London from June 7 to 11.

Indian squad for WTC final against Australia: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, KS Bharat (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. . Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat.
