India was awarded hosting rights for three events, namely the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup, the 2018 Champions Trophy (which was later changed to the 2021 T20 World Cup) and the 2023 ODI World Cup. As per the agreement, BCCI is "obliged" to help ICC in getting tax exemption. Last year, the ICC was informed by the Indian tax authorities that a 20 per cent tax order would be levied on its broadcast revenue from the 2023 World Cup. The BCCI has reported ICC's broadcasting income from the 2023 World Cup at USD 533.29 million.
